Takihyo Co., Ltd. (head office: Nishi Ward, Nagoya City; Representative Director, President and CEO: Kazuo Taki), a textile trading company founded in 1751, will hold an open factory event at the Ichinomiya Factory (the company\u2019s manufacturing base) as part of \u201cHitsuji Summit Bishu.\u201d The event will be held from October 24 to 26 in Bishu, one of the world\u2019s three major woolen textile production areas.
\nThis marks the fifth open factory event at the Ichinomiya Factory. Visitors will get to see the spinning process using a rare English-style spinning machine known as the \u201cBradford System,\u201d which employs the same method as was used during the Industrial Revolution. In addition, yarns and fabrics developed in-house at the Ichinomiya Factory will be available to buy, along with miscellaneous goods and original products.
\nTakihyo will widely promote the sustainability of wool, a material that is biodegradable and has a low environmental impact during the manufacturing process. \u25a0 What is Hitsuji Summit Bishu?<\/strong>
\nWith the catchphrase \u201cAn open factory where users and makers can connect loosely and casually in the town of textiles,\u201d this event aims to communicate the sustainability of wool through six ways to have fun: factory tours, hands-on manufacturing experiences, interacting with sheep, shopping, delicious gourmet food, and talk sessions and events. It also aims to connect users and makers, promote revitalization in the region, boost the image of business succession, and foster new leaders.
\nThe event started in 2021, and has welcomed a total of over 60,000 visitors. This year, it will be held over three days from October 24 (Fri.) to 26 (Sun.), and in over 40 locations.<\/p>\n

\u25a0 What is the manufacturing base \u201cIchinomiya Factory\u201d?<\/strong>
\nIchinomiya Factory is our new manufacturing base, which we established in Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture in 2014. The main source for it, the \u201cEnglish-style spinning machines,\u201d were manufactured around 70 years ago, and there are now very few of them left in Japan. Using rare spinning machines that retain memories of the Industrial Revolution\u2019s transition from manual to mechanical industry, we produce yarn with a texture that cannot be achieved with the French-style spinning machines that are commonly used today. The highly original yarns and fabrics planned and developed at the Ichinomiya Factory are highly regarded by brands both in Japan and overseas.<\/p>\n
